Performance Solutions
We provide fire engineering Performance Solutions to address non-compliances with the Deemed-to-Satisfy provisions of the BCA and Australian Standards.
Performance Solutions allow the design to deviate from the prescriptive requirements, and instead implement a design that is specific for the building, while maintaining an acceptable level of fire safety.
These solutions provide design flexibility to support architectural vision, cost savings, sensible ongoing management, or simply to demonstrate safety is achieved by the design.
EV Fire Hazard Assessments
The installation of EV chargers within buildings generally requires a fire hazard assessment to demonstrate compliance with the BCA requirements.
Our team have the relevant expertise in this area, boasting a master’s thesis on EV fires within buildings which received a grant from the Society of Fire Safety, and have provided many practical assessments to establish a suitable fire safety strategy.
Resolution of AFSS issues
Existing buildings commonly have issues with fire safety systems that may prevent signoff of the AFSS (Annual Fire Safety Statement). We can provide independent advice on these issues, and where significant upgrades are required, it can be advantageous to reassess the building and affected systems via a Performance Solution.
Ultimately, we can assist in finding a practical solution that ensures future signoff.
Fire Orders
We conduct fire safety audits of existing buildings to confirm whether the required fire safety measures have been provided.
These are commonly required during the latent defects liability period post occupation, prior to occupation to satisfy the Certifier, prior to further development for building owners to understand the status of the building, or as a response to a council request or fire order.
Fire Safety Audits
We help building owners to improve the safety of existing buildings, whilst working within the constraints of what can be achieved.
Fire Orders require a building owner to upgrade the fire safety of existing buildings, which can be challenging given the age and existing design. We negotiate with council and provide practical solutions that maintain an acceptable level of fire safety.
